Refund & Cancellation Policy

Classic Fares

This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how cancellation requests, refunds, travel credits and related requests are handled for eligible travel services purchased or arranged through Classic Fares, operated by Flight Fare Booking Inc.

Travel products are subject to different rules depending on the airline or travel provider, fare type, booking source, supplier or consolidator conditions, itinerary, date of purchase and other applicable restrictions.

Before completing a reservation, customers should carefully review the fare rules, cancellation conditions, refundability and other material booking terms presented during the booking process.

Nothing in this Policy is intended to limit or waive any refund or consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived under applicable law.

1. Understanding Refundability Before You Book

Not all travel reservations are refundable.

Depending on the selected travel product, a reservation may be:

  • Refundable;
  • Refundable subject to applicable conditions or fees;
  • Eligible for travel credit rather than a cash refund;
  • Changeable but non-refundable;
  • Subject to supplier or airline restrictions;
  • Partially refundable;
  • Non-refundable after ticketing;
  • Restricted from voluntary cancellation or changes; or
  • Subject to other fare-specific conditions.

The rules applicable to the particular reservation will be presented or made available during the booking process before the customer completes the purchase.

Customers should review these conditions carefully before authorizing payment.

2. Restricted and Bulk-Sourced Airfares

Classic Fares may obtain certain travel inventory or underlying fares through contracted suppliers, consolidators, bulk-fare dealers, GDS sources, travel APIs or other travel-industry inventory sources available through our business relationships.

Certain discounted, negotiated, bulk, private, restricted or specially sourced fares may carry more restrictive cancellation, change or refund conditions than other fares.

Depending on the specific fare rules, such a fare may:

  • Be non-refundable after ticketing;
  • Prohibit voluntary cancellation;
  • Permit cancellation but provide no monetary refund;
  • Permit changes only under specified conditions;
  • Require payment of a fare difference or applicable fee;
  • Permit only a supplier or airline credit;
  • Have restrictions concerning passenger name changes, routing or dates; or
  • Carry other conditions established for that particular fare.

Classic Fares does not represent that every restricted, bulk, negotiated or specially sourced fare is non-refundable. The actual conditions depend on the rules applicable to the specific fare selected by the customer.

Where a fare carries material cancellation or refund restrictions, the applicable fare rules or relevant restrictions will be presented or made available to the customer during the reservation process before purchase.

By completing the reservation after those terms are presented, the customer acknowledges the applicable fare conditions associated with the selected reservation.

Important

A fare described as “non-refundable” or subject to voluntary cancellation restrictions does not eliminate any refund right that the customer may have under applicable law because of an airline cancellation, qualifying significant schedule change or another circumstance in which a refund is legally required.

3. Voluntary Cancellation by the Customer

A voluntary cancellation occurs when the customer chooses not to travel even though the booked travel service remains available substantially as scheduled.

Examples may include:

  • Change of personal plans;
  • Choosing not to travel;
  • Personal scheduling conflicts;
  • Purchasing a different itinerary;
  • Missing required travel documents;
  • Failure to meet applicable entry requirements;
  • Arriving late or missing a flight;
  • Personal circumstances not covered by the applicable fare rules; or
  • Other customer-initiated cancellation requests.

Whether a voluntary cancellation qualifies for a refund, credit or change depends primarily on the rules applicable to the reservation.

A non-refundable fare will generally not become refundable merely because the customer chooses not to travel, except where applicable law or the governing fare rules provide otherwise.

4. Refundable Fares

If the selected fare is identified as refundable, a customer may request cancellation subject to the conditions applicable to that fare.

Refundability does not necessarily mean that every amount associated with the reservation is refundable.

Depending on the booking, applicable deductions may include amounts that were clearly disclosed as non-refundable, where permitted by law, or charges imposed under the applicable fare or supplier conditions.

The amount, eligibility and method of any refund will be determined according to the applicable fare conditions and legal requirements.

5. Non-Refundable Fares

If a fare is identified as non-refundable, voluntary cancellation generally will not result in a monetary refund of the airfare.

Depending on the applicable rules, the reservation may nevertheless qualify for:

  • A travel credit;
  • Future travel value;
  • A permitted change;
  • Partial recovery of an eligible amount; or
  • Another remedy provided by the applicable airline, supplier or law.

Any such option remains subject to the applicable conditions.

A non-refundable designation does not override refund rights that may arise because of an airline cancellation, qualifying significant change or another circumstance where applicable law requires a refund.

6. Airline Cancellation or Significant Schedule Change

Different rules may apply when the airline, rather than the passenger, cancels or materially changes the transportation.

For covered flights to, from or within the United States, customers may have statutory refund rights when an airline cancels or significantly changes a flight and the passenger does not accept applicable alternative transportation, travel credit, voucher or other compensation.

Where a refund is legally required, Classic Fares will process or facilitate the refund in accordance with applicable law and the payment/fulfillment structure of the transaction.

The entity responsible for issuing a legally required airfare refund may depend on which entity acted as the merchant of record for the ticket transaction.

Nothing in this Policy is intended to replace, restrict or waive rights provided under applicable aviation consumer-protection law.

7. Merchant of Record and Refund Processing

Travel transactions may involve Classic Fares, an airline, consolidator, supplier or other contracted fulfillment source.

Depending on the transaction, the entity appearing on the customer's card or financial statement as the merchant processing the airfare payment may be responsible for issuing a legally required airfare refund.

If Classic Fares is the merchant of record and applicable law requires Classic Fares to issue the refund, we will process the refund in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

If another entity is responsible for the applicable refund, Classic Fares may assist the customer with identifying or communicating the appropriate process where reasonably possible.

8. Refund Method

Where a monetary refund is due, it will generally be returned to the original form of payment, subject to applicable law and payment-processing requirements.

Where applicable law permits another form of refund or the customer affirmatively agrees to an alternative such as a travel credit or voucher, different arrangements may apply.

Receiving a refund does not necessarily mean that every separately purchased service or independently disclosed charge is refundable. Each component may be governed by its own applicable terms and legal requirements.

9. Refund Processing Time

Refund processing time depends on:

  • The reason for the refund;
  • Applicable legal requirements;
  • Airline or supplier confirmation;
  • Merchant-of-record status;
  • Payment method;
  • Supplier or consolidator processing;
  • Banking or payment-network processing; and
  • Whether additional information is required.

Where a specific refund deadline is imposed by applicable law, the responsible party will process the refund within the legally required timeframe.

After a refund has been initiated, the customer's bank or payment provider may require additional time before the credit becomes visible on the customer's account.

10. 24-Hour Cancellation Requests

Customers should not assume that every reservation purchased through Classic Fares automatically carries a 24-hour free cancellation right.

The U.S. Department of Transportation's airline 24-hour reservation/refund requirement applicable in qualifying circumstances to airlines does not automatically apply in the same manner to tickets purchased through online travel agencies or other third-party travel agents.

Whether a reservation made through Classic Fares qualifies for cancellation within 24 hours will depend on the applicable fare, supplier or airline rules, the status of ticketing and any applicable legal requirement or Classic Fares term presented during booking.

If you need to cancel shortly after making a reservation, contact us as quickly as possible.

11. Changes Instead of Cancellation

Some fares that are non-refundable may still permit changes.

Where changes are permitted, the customer may be responsible for:

  • Any applicable fare difference;
  • Airline or supplier-imposed charges;
  • Applicable agency/service charges disclosed for the requested service; and
  • Other amounts required under the fare conditions.

A lower fare on a replacement itinerary does not necessarily create a right to a cash refund of the difference unless required by the applicable fare rules or law.

The availability of a change is not guaranteed until the requested change has been confirmed and, where required, the ticket has been reissued.

12. No-Show Reservations

A customer may be treated as a no-show when the traveler fails to use a scheduled travel segment without completing any required cancellation or change before the applicable deadline.

No-show rules can be significantly more restrictive than ordinary cancellation rules.

Depending on the airline and fare conditions, failure to use one segment may result in cancellation of remaining flight segments and may reduce or eliminate any remaining ticket value.

Customers who know they will not travel should contact us as early as possible.

13. Partially Used Tickets

Refund eligibility for a partially used ticket depends on the applicable fare rules and law.

The refundable value, if any, may not equal the simple mathematical difference between the original ticket price and the portion already traveled.

The airline or applicable ticketing/fulfillment source may recalculate the used portion of the itinerary under the governing fare rules before determining whether any residual value remains.

14. Schedule Changes

Airline schedules are subject to change.

A minor schedule adjustment does not necessarily create a right to cancellation or refund.

A more substantial change may provide additional options under the applicable airline policy or law.

If an airline changes your itinerary, contact Classic Fares for assistance in reviewing the available options applicable to your reservation.

15. Airline Travel Credits and Vouchers

In some situations, an airline or supplier may offer a travel credit or voucher instead of a monetary refund.

Credits and vouchers may have specific:

  • Expiration dates;
  • Booking deadlines;
  • Travel completion requirements;
  • Passenger restrictions;
  • Airline restrictions;
  • Route limitations;
  • Transferability restrictions; and
  • Other conditions.

Where a customer has a legal right to a monetary refund, Classic Fares will not represent a travel credit or voucher as the customer's only option if applicable law requires that a monetary refund also be available.

Customers should review the terms of any credit or voucher before voluntarily accepting it.

16. Taxes and Government-Imposed Charges

The treatment of taxes and government-imposed charges depends on the reservation, whether travel was used and applicable law.

Where applicable law requires taxes and mandatory charges to be included in a refund, they will be handled accordingly.

A fare's voluntary non-refundable status does not permit Classic Fares to retain amounts that applicable law requires to be refunded.

17. Classic Fares Service Fees

Classic Fares may charge disclosed service or professional-assistance fees for certain services.

Where a service fee applies, its existence and applicable amount will be disclosed before the customer authorizes the relevant transaction or service.

If a Classic Fares fee is designated as non-refundable, that status will be disclosed where required before purchase.

Whether a separately disclosed service fee remains refundable when an underlying airfare is refunded will depend on the nature of the service, the disclosure provided at purchase and applicable law.

We will not use this Policy to retroactively create an undisclosed non-refundable charge.

18. Car Rental Cancellations

Classic Fares provides car rental booking assistance through a request-a-quote model.

Cancellation and refund conditions for a confirmed car rental depend on the specific rental provider, rate plan and reservation terms accepted by the customer.

Certain rental rates may permit free cancellation within a stated period, while others may involve cancellation charges, deposits, prepayment restrictions or non-refundable amounts.

The applicable terms should be reviewed before confirming the rental.

19. Cruise Cancellations

Cruise reservations can carry cancellation schedules that differ substantially from airline reservations.

Depending on the cruise line, sailing, cabin category, promotional rate and proximity to departure, cancellation may result in:

  • No penalty;
  • Loss of a deposit;
  • A percentage cancellation penalty;
  • Future cruise credit; or
  • Loss of some or all amounts paid.

The applicable cruise provider's cancellation conditions will govern the underlying cruise reservation, subject to applicable law.

Customers should carefully review those conditions before confirming a cruise.

20. Travel Consultation Services

Classic Fares may provide separately requested travel consultation or professional assistance, including for certain eligible reservations not originally booked through Classic Fares.

Travel consultation is a separate service from the underlying airline, cruise, car rental or other travel product.

Where a fee applies, the scope of work and applicable charge will be disclosed before the customer authorizes the service.

Payment for consultation or professional assistance does not guarantee that an airline or other provider will issue a refund, approve a waiver, provide a credit or produce any other particular result.

21. Medical, Bereavement and Exceptional Circumstances

Customers may request assistance where cancellation results from illness, bereavement or another exceptional circumstance.

However, Classic Fares cannot guarantee that an airline or supplier will grant an exception to its fare conditions.

The provider may require supporting documentation and retains decision-making authority where the matter is governed by the provider's discretionary exception policy.

Any statutory rights available independently of such discretion remain unaffected.

22. Duplicate or Incorrect Reservations

Customers are responsible for reviewing passenger names, travel dates, origin, destination and other reservation information before completing the purchase.

If you believe a duplicate reservation or booking error has occurred, contact us immediately.

Cancellation or correction options depend on ticketing status, applicable fare rules, supplier conditions and law.

Classic Fares cannot guarantee that an airline or supplier will waive applicable restrictions or charges for customer-entered errors.

Security Notice

For security, do not email full payment-card numbers, passwords or unnecessary sensitive financial information.

24. Cancellation Is Not Complete Until Confirmed

Submitting a cancellation request does not by itself mean that a reservation has been cancelled.

A cancellation is considered completed only after the applicable cancellation has been successfully processed and confirmation has been provided or otherwise reflected in the relevant reservation system.

Until confirmation is obtained, customers should not assume that their reservation has been cancelled or that a refund has been approved.

25. Supplier and Airline Decisions

Classic Fares may facilitate or service travel reservations that are ticketed or fulfilled through airlines, consolidators, suppliers or contracted travel partners.

Where refund eligibility depends upon an airline or supplier's fare rules or discretionary decision, Classic Fares cannot guarantee that the request will be approved.

However, supplier terms or contractual arrangements will not be used to deny a customer a refund that Classic Fares is independently required by applicable law to provide.

26. Chargebacks and Refund Requests

Customers who believe they are entitled to a cancellation or refund are encouraged to contact Classic Fares promptly so that we can investigate and process an eligible request.

Initiating a payment dispute does not independently change the underlying fare conditions or determine whether a reservation is refundable.

Nothing in this Policy restricts any lawful rights a consumer may have through their card issuer, financial institution or applicable consumer-protection law.

27. Governing Fare Rules

The specific fare conditions presented or made available in connection with a reservation form an important part of the customer's purchase terms.

Where this general Policy and a specific fare rule address the same voluntary cancellation issue, the specific fare conditions applicable to the selected reservation generally control , subject always to applicable law and any non-waivable consumer rights.

Accordingly, customers should review fare restrictions before payment rather than relying solely on this general Policy.

28. Changes to This Policy

Classic Fares may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy periodically to reflect changes in our services, supplier relationships, business practices or applicable legal requirements.

The version applicable to a particular transaction will be determined in accordance with applicable law and the terms presented in connection with that transaction.

Updates to this website Policy will not retroactively remove rights already acquired by a customer under applicable law or the terms governing an existing reservation.

29. Important Legal and Consumer Rights Notice

This Policy describes general procedures and contractual conditions and is not intended to eliminate rights provided by applicable law.

If any provision of this Policy conflicts with a mandatory consumer-protection, aviation or refund requirement applicable to a particular transaction, the applicable mandatory legal requirement will control to the extent of that conflict.

Nothing contained in this Policy should be interpreted as requiring a customer to waive a right that cannot legally be waived.
