Understanding the Price of Your Travel

At Classic Fares, we believe customers should be able to understand the price they are agreeing to pay before completing a purchase.

Classic Fares is an independent travel services platform operated by Flight Fare Booking Inc. We provide flight reservation services, car rental booking assistance, cruise reservation assistance and travel consultation services.

Travel prices may include different components depending on the travel product, itinerary, destination, supplier, applicable government requirements and services selected by the customer.

This Taxes & Fees page explains how those amounts may apply.

Flight Pricing

Flight inventory and underlying fares available through Classic Fares may be obtained through travel-industry sources including:

  • Airlines and travel suppliers;
  • Contracted consolidators;
  • Bulk and negotiated-fare sources;
  • Global Distribution Systems (GDS);
  • Travel APIs; and
  • Other travel inventory and fulfillment sources available through our business relationships.

Classic Fares determines the retail price offered to its customers.

Accordingly, a price offered through Classic Fares may differ from an underlying supplier or consolidator fare and may also differ from a price offered by an airline, another travel agency, another website or another distribution channel.

Customers are purchasing the travel product at the final retail price presented by Classic Fares and accepted during the booking process , subject to availability and successful booking/ticketing.

Taxes and Government-Imposed Fees

Air transportation may be subject to taxes, charges or assessments imposed by governmental authorities, airports or other authorized public bodies.

Depending on the itinerary, these may include applicable:

  • Transportation taxes;
  • Passenger facility charges;
  • Airport charges;
  • Security-related fees;
  • Immigration, customs or inspection charges;
  • International arrival or departure taxes;
  • Tourism-related assessments;
  • Country-specific taxes; and
  • Other mandatory government-imposed taxes or charges.

The type and amount of applicable taxes may vary depending on factors such as origin, destination, connecting points, itinerary, jurisdiction and travel type.

For airfare displayed for purchase through Classic Fares, the customer-facing total price will include applicable mandatory government taxes and fees and mandatory surcharges required to be included in the advertised airfare.

The Price You See Before Purchase

Before a customer completes an eligible online flight purchase, Classic Fares will display the applicable total price required for the selected flight reservation, including mandatory amounts required to be included in that price.

Customers will have an opportunity to review the applicable price before authorizing payment.

Where a flight reservation is completed with assistance from one of our travel professionals, the applicable customer-facing price will be communicated before payment authorization and completion of the transaction.

We do not intend to add undisclosed mandatory charges after a customer has authorized a purchase.

Optional Services Are Different

The total airfare does not necessarily include every optional product or service that a traveler may choose to purchase.

Additional charges may apply when a customer voluntarily requests or selects services such as:

  • Checked baggage;
  • Additional baggage;
  • Excess or oversized baggage;
  • Advance seat selection;
  • Preferred or premium seating;
  • Priority services;
  • In-flight products;
  • Special assistance or optional services;
  • Airline upgrades;
  • Optional insurance or protection products, where offered;
  • Subsequent voluntary reservation changes; or
  • Other optional travel products or services.

The availability, price and conditions of airline-provided optional services are generally established by the applicable airline and may change.

Where Classic Fares separately charges for an optional or professional service, the applicable charge will be disclosed before the customer authorizes that service.

Baggage Fees

Baggage is not necessarily included with every airfare.

The applicable airline determines baggage allowances and charges based on factors that may include fare type, cabin, route, loyalty status, baggage dimensions and weight.

A fare displayed by Classic Fares should therefore not be interpreted as including checked baggage unless baggage is expressly shown as included.

Customers should review the applicable baggage information associated with their reservation and the airline's current baggage rules before travel.

Any baggage fee charged directly by an airline is governed by that airline's applicable policies.

Classic Fares Service Fees

Classic Fares may charge a service or professional-assistance fee for certain services.

Such services may include, where applicable:

  • Assisted reservation services;
  • Certain post-booking services;
  • Voluntary reservation modifications;
  • Travel consultation;
  • Professional travel assistance; or
  • Other separately requested services.

Where a Classic Fares service fee applies, the applicable charge will be disclosed before the customer authorizes the relevant transaction or service.

A service fee is separate from any additional amount that may be charged by an airline, supplier or other travel provider.

For example, if a customer voluntarily requests a ticket change, the total amount required could potentially include a fare difference, an airline or supplier charge where applicable, and a separately disclosed Classic Fares service fee.

The applicable amounts will depend on the specific request and reservation.

No Hidden Mandatory Charges

Classic Fares does not intend to advertise one mandatory price and then require customers to pay an undisclosed mandatory amount to obtain the advertised travel product.

The customer-facing purchase flow is designed to provide the applicable total mandatory price before payment authorization.

Optional products, customer-requested services and later post-booking transactions may result in additional charges, but those amounts are separate from the original mandatory purchase price and are subject to their applicable terms.

Supplier, Consolidator and Fulfillment Costs

Classic Fares may obtain travel inventory through suppliers, consolidators, GDS systems, APIs and other contracted travel sources.

The amount Classic Fares pays or becomes liable to pay to an underlying supplier or fulfillment source is part of our commercial relationship with that source and does not necessarily represent the retail price offered to the customer.

Classic Fares determines its customer-facing retail price.

The relevant amount for the customer is therefore the final retail price presented by Classic Fares before the customer authorizes the transaction , together with any separately disclosed optional services selected by the customer.

Restricted, Bulk and Special Fares

Certain fares available through Classic Fares may originate from consolidators, bulk-fare dealers, negotiated inventory or other specialized travel sources.

These fares may carry specific conditions relating to:

  • Cancellation;
  • Refundability;
  • Changes;
  • Travel credits;
  • Routing;
  • Passenger eligibility;
  • Ticket validity; or
  • Other fare restrictions.

These restrictions do not create an undisclosed tax or fee.

Where material restrictions apply to a particular fare, customers should review the applicable fare conditions presented or made available during the booking process before completing the reservation.

Please also review our Refund & Cancellation Policy for additional information.

Currency and Foreign Transactions

Prices displayed through Classic Fares will identify or otherwise indicate the applicable transaction currency.

If a customer uses a payment method issued in a different currency or country, the customer's bank, card issuer or payment provider may perform currency conversion or impose its own foreign transaction, international processing or similar charge.

Such third-party banking charges are not charged or controlled by Classic Fares unless expressly stated otherwise.

Customers should contact their financial institution for information regarding charges imposed independently by their bank or card issuer.

Changes After Booking

A customer's original purchase price does not necessarily determine the cost of a later voluntary change.

If a customer requests a change after ticketing, additional amounts may be required depending on the applicable fare rules and requested itinerary.

These may include:

  • A difference between the original and replacement fare;
  • Airline or supplier-imposed charges where applicable;
  • Taxes associated with the replacement itinerary; and
  • A Classic Fares service fee where applicable and disclosed before authorization.

No requested change is considered completed until the applicable change has been confirmed and, where necessary, the ticket has been reissued.

Refunds of Taxes and Fees

Whether a tax, fee or other amount is refundable depends on the nature of the charge, whether travel has commenced, the applicable fare conditions and applicable law.

Where a customer is legally entitled to a refund that includes applicable taxes or mandatory charges, those amounts will be handled in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

A fare being designated as non-refundable does not permit Classic Fares to retain an amount that applicable law independently requires to be refunded.

For complete information regarding cancellations and refunds, please review our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Car Rental Pricing, Taxes & Fees

Classic Fares provides car rental assistance through a request-a-quote model.

Car rental pricing may contain components established by the applicable rental provider or relevant authorities.

Depending on the rental, these may include:

  • Base rental charges;
  • Applicable taxes;
  • Airport or facility charges;
  • Location-related surcharges;
  • Government assessments; and
  • Other mandatory charges associated with the quoted rental.

Optional selections may create additional charges, including insurance or protection products, additional drivers, child seats, GPS equipment, toll products, fuel options, vehicle upgrades or other optional services.

Additional charges may also arise from the customer's actual use of the vehicle, such as fuel, tolls, mileage, late return, damage or other circumstances governed by the rental agreement.

The applicable quote and rental terms should be reviewed before the customer confirms a rental.

Cruise Pricing, Taxes & Fees

Classic Fares provides cruise reservation assistance through a request-a-quote model.

Cruise pricing may include or be affected by:

  • Cruise fare;
  • Applicable taxes;
  • Port-related charges;
  • Government assessments; and
  • Other mandatory amounts associated with the selected cruise.

Optional services or purchases may carry additional charges.

Depending on the cruise provider and sailing, these may include beverages, specialty dining, shore excursions, internet access, gratuities, spa services, transportation, travel protection, onboard purchases and other optional products.

The customer will be provided with or directed to the applicable pricing and booking conditions before confirming a cruise reservation through our assisted service.

Travel Consultation Fees

Classic Fares also provides eligible travel consultation and professional travel assistance services, including certain situations involving reservations that were not originally booked through Classic Fares.

Travel Consultation Assistance

1-877-658-0203

If a professional consultation or assistance fee applies, the applicable fee and scope of the service will be communicated before the customer authorizes the service.

A Classic Fares consultation fee is compensation for the professional service being provided and does not guarantee that an airline or other third party will approve a refund, waiver, credit, reimbursement or any other requested outcome.

Price and Availability Changes

Travel inventory is dynamic.

Airfares, rental rates, cruise prices and availability may change as inventory is sold, supplier systems are updated or travel conditions change.

A search result, quote or displayed option is not necessarily guaranteed until the reservation has been successfully completed and, where applicable, ticketed or otherwise confirmed.

If the selected travel product is no longer available at the displayed or quoted price before completion, the customer will be informed of the available option and applicable price before being asked to authorize a different transaction.

Classic Fares will not substitute a materially different price without customer authorization.

Review Before You Pay

Before completing a transaction, customers should review:

  • Travel itinerary;
  • Passenger details;
  • Final price;
  • Applicable taxes and mandatory charges;
  • Fare restrictions;
  • Cancellation and refund conditions;
  • Selected optional services; and
  • Applicable Classic Fares service fees, if any.

By authorizing payment, the customer confirms the purchase based on the price and applicable terms presented in connection with that transaction.
